Most travellers often wonder if they should book their stay in advance. In the case of budget travelling, this could mean extra money saved for other activities. However, as with other things in life, booking in advance has its own advantages and disadvantages.
First of all, if you are travelling for the first time, it’s recommended to book in advance. You’ll have peace of mind during the trip and don’t have to worry about finding accommodation the first time you set foot in a new city. However, if you intend to travel for longer than one week, don’t book the entire stay in advance. Once you do, you are tied to a fixed schedule, or a place, which you still don’t know anything about yet. If things turn out not as you imagine, it will be too costly to make a move.
For the avid traveller, perhaps it should be a mix between the two. If you arrive in a new city at odd hours of the night, it’s wiser to have someplace booked in advance for the first night at least. The next day, once you get to know the city better, you are free to move to another place to enrich your experience.
